1836: the origins

In 1836, the Bordeaux painter Noël-Rose Tindel opened one of the very first sea-bathing establishments in Arcachon on this spot: Les Nouveaux Bains d'Arcachon. At the time, Arcachon was just a modest fishing village. The idea of sea bathing as a therapeutic and fashionable pastime was only just beginning to spread along the French coast. Tindel was a pioneer.

The house very quickly became a sought-after holiday retreat, popular for its baths, its pinnace boat trips on the Bay, its lively balls and its refined cuisine. Arcachon's reputation began to be built here, facing this beach.

In the 19th century, the hotel became a large villa divided into several residences.

2026: the rebirth

The birth of Villa Ti Bassin

When we first visited this house in January 2024, it was tired, worn by time. And yet, everything was there. Its location facing the Bay. Its light. Its volumes. Its history. It took us two years to bring it back to life, driven by a strong conviction: to respect everything the house had been through, preserve its original architectural features and make the renovation a natural continuation of its past. In 2026, Villa Ti Bassin opens its doors. Looking to the future, yet deeply rooted in its past.

Two years to bring a residence back to life

A renovation guided by respect and emotion

When we first pushed open the door, the house was tired. Worn by time, and by renovations that had not always listened to what the walls had to say.

But behind the marks of time, the essentials were there: the high ceilings, the ceiling roses, the mouldings, the volumes. That very particular light that moves through each room differently throughout the day. And above all, its exceptional seafront location, facing Arcachon Bay.

We chose to erase nothing. To restore rather than replace. To reveal rather than hide. Every original architectural feature has been carefully preserved, every material chosen to extend the spirit of the place: natural stone, oak, polished concrete, linen.

The renovation took two years. It brought together an architect in love with the Bay and local craftspeople with remarkable skills. Today, the house seems as if it has always been this way. And yet, it has probably never been so alive.
